Ausencio Nunez, MD was born in Durango, Mexico and came to the United States of America with his family at a very young age 3. He spent 1 year in New Mexico and spent the rest of his growing up years in the north side of Chicago. He went to the Loyola University of Chicago for his undergraduate school, majoring in Biology. The next 4 years were spent at the University of Illinois Medical School. He decided early on that he was going to be a pediatrician.
He has always had a special place in his heart for children. However, his passion for helping people did not just stop with children, he wanted to help and serve people of all ages. This is how he decided to specialize in internal Meds/Peds. He went to Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit for his first year of residency, followed by 2 years of Pediatric residency at the University of Illinois and 2 years of residency, followed by 2 years of Pediatric residency at University of Illinois and 2 years of Internal Medicine at Illinois Masonic Hospital,
Right after completing his residency, he became the Medical Director of Alivio Medical Center – a health center locates in the west side of Chicago serving the uninsured, underinsured Hispanic community and other cultures ads races In the area requiring quality healthcare at low cost.
In April 1994, he started his own practice, this time in the suburb. He opened Progressive Medical Center on April 8, 1994, in Bensenville, IL. 3 rooms, 1 receptionist and 2 MA’s were all he needs to run the place.
24 years later, Dr. Nunez continues to serve the people and the community he loves Like a butterfly; Progressive Medical Center has gone thru a metamorphosis of change over the years. We currently have 3 providers with 20 full-time employees.
